10 Questions with
Velvet & Shadow

We asked. They answered.

How did you get into boudoir photography?
I came to boudoir through portraiture. I kept noticing that the images that meant the most to my clients were never the ones where they looked the most polished. They were the ones where they looked the most real. Boudoir gave me a space to chase that without compromise.
How would you describe your style?
Dark. Considered. Quiet. I want images that feel like they were found, not made. I work with shadows as much as I work with light. The result tends to feel intimate and editorial at the same time.
What do you want clients to feel walking out of a session?
Seen. Not in a performed way, but genuinely. Like the camera caught something they had forgotten was there.
What should someone bring to their session?
Whatever makes you feel like yourself. I never want a wardrobe that's performing. Bring the robe you actually wear. The jewelry that means something. The pieces that are yours, not pieces chosen because they seemed like what you were supposed to wear.
What is the one thing you wish more clients knew before booking?
That nervousness is not a problem to be solved before you arrive. It's part of the session. Some of the most powerful images I've ever made came from the first ten minutes, when someone was still figuring out where to put their hands. That's when the real stuff happens.
